Commercial International Bank Egypt (CIB) has selected IBM’s technology for the integration of the bank’s services.
CIB aims to integrate its existing and new services from branches, digital channels, interactive voice response (IVR), mobile and internet banking, business processes and customer relationship management (CRM).
The Egyptian bank’s integration is part of its digital transformation journey and mission to transform IT infrastructure.
For the modernisation of CIB’s digital banking, IBM deployed microservices leveraging IBM Cloud Pak for Integration. IBM Cloud Pak is implemented on Red Hat OpenShift, a platform which delivers a single, unified experience that connects applications and data.
CIB chief information officer Antar Kandil said: “We are starting a new chapter in our banking evolution by adopting IBM Cloud Pak for Integration on Red Hat OpenShift which provides us the ability to accelerate development and flexibly integrate new and existing services all in a single integrated offering and providing enhanced customers experience to CIB customers.”
According to IBM, the deployment of the architecture has made version maintenance, dynamic scaling, service governance and service discovery simpler.
The company also said that the advancements have enabled CIB to deliver a more agile banking environment.
As a result, the bank has achieved improved efficiency, enhanced resiliency, optimised operations, better productivity and end-user experience.
IBM Egypt general manager Marwa Abbas said: “More than 100 project team members from CIB, IBM Customer Success and IBM Technology Expert Labs worked together to drive and complete this modernisation journey.
“This project is a significant milestone in our long-standing relationship with CIB, as we assist CIB in adapting AI for business with a human-centred and principled approach.
“IBM brings deep technology, industry and domain expertise to help CIB apply AI to deliver meaningful business outcomes beyond improved productivity and efficiencies to better experiences and new business models.”
In September this year, Swiss banking software provider Temenos partnered with IBM to bring advanced payment capabilities on IBM Cloud for Financial Services through the Temenos Payments Hub solution.
