Unisys has entered into a partnership with Thought Machine to support digital transformation across the banking sector, by combining its advanced branch technology with cloud-native core banking capabilities.
The collaboration seeks to address operational efficiency and service delivery for banks deploying modernised, technology-led infrastructures.
Under the partnership, Unisys will integrate its smart branch technology with Thought Machine’s Vault Core platform. Vault Core is designed to facilitate cloud-native core banking operations and secure transaction processing.
This integrated approach will allow financial institutions to offer branch services beyond physical premises while managing client engagement and back-office operations through a unified solution.
Vault Core is currently said to be used by several major financial institutions, including Lloyds Banking Group, Intesa Sanpaolo, ING Bank Śląski, Standard Chartered, SEB, Atom bank, Curve, and Lunar.
Built for scalability and resilience, the platform supports full-service digital banking functionality and payments processing.
The Unisys-Thought Machine solution leverages artificial intelligence (AI) and biometric technology to enable secure and streamlined customer experiences. The integration is designed to reduce wait times and optimise service delivery both within and beyond branch environments.
The technology aims to support banks’ shift toward “smart branch” models by equipping them with systems that facilitate efficient service operations and robust security features for staff and customers.
Through this solution, banks are expected to enhance client interactions while maintaining compliance and resilience in evolving regulatory and threat environments.
Unisys stated that the integrated solution allows financial institutions to implement comprehensive core and branch banking capabilities that support the advancement of technology-driven strategies. The partnership is also designed to facilitate reliable transaction processing and extend branch banking services to customers beyond traditional branch locations.
Unisys Enterprise Computing Solutions solution management vice president Sean Tinney said: “Our integration with Vault Core is giving branch banking a turbo boost. Together, we’re not just upgrading the tech; we’re opening the door to a whole new way of doing branch banking.
“Think of it as branch banking 2.0 – faster, smarter, and more secure – using AI and advanced security technology to help our clients stay ahead of the industry’s evolving needs and handle sensitive transactions securely.”
Thought Machine operates globally with offices in London, New York, Singapore, and Sydney, and has secured over $500m in funding to date. Its Vault Core technology forms the foundation of its offering, aimed at replacing legacy banking infrastructure with cloud-first solutions.
