SAP launches new commerce cloud payment solution SAP Commerce Cloud

The German enterprise software firm said that the framework integrates SAP Commerce Cloud with various third-party payment service providers, including Adyen, Worldpay, Stripe, and Airwallex based on their specific use case

SAP has introduced a new composable payment solution, dubbed SAP Commerce Cloud, to support retailers address evolving customer expectations.

The new open payment framework will help retailers to become more flexible as new payment options including buy now, pay later gain momentum.

SAP said that the framework integrates SAP Commerce Cloud with various third-party payment service providers (PSPs), including Adyen, Worldpay, Stripe, and Airwallex based on their specific use case.

In addition, SAP’s architecture enables retailers to easily choose payment partners tailored to their special requirements and international markets.

It allows retailers to build at their own pace, scale their business faster, and avoid being confined to a single provider.

SAP Commerce Cloud’s native and seamless integration features ensure that PSPs can be easily adopted and reduce complexity by eliminating the need to integrate and implement extensions to the commerce codebase.

The extensible nature of the framework helps it to ensure that the front end and back end are decoupled and will operate independently.

This creates an opportunity to serve a broad array of channel requirements and add on new solutions, including prebuilt payment experiences available on SAP Commerce Cloud, composable storefront.

Besides, the new solution allows customers to pick their preferred payment method, enhancing the checkout experience.

The new framework includes automated upgrades with security and compliance requirements and end-to-end payment procedures encompassing authorisation, capture, refunds, and re-authorisation. It also addresses typical payment demands.

SAP senior vice president and industries and CX product marketing global head Sven Denecken said: “SAP’s unique, industry-led approach to composability places the retailer’s digital commerce needs front and centre while we work with them to manage their digital transformation, navigate pathways to sustainable growth, and deliver on industry expectations.”

The open payment framework for SAP Commerce Cloud is in beta. Currently, SAP customers can join, and the solution is slated to be generally available in the second half of 2024.
