ORLEN Deutschland, an ORLEN Group company, is set to roll out more than 200 fast charging points under the ORLEN Charge brand at a minimum of 30 key locations across Germany. This project, to be executed in collaboration with May & Co. Holding and scheduled for completion by the end of 2026, is part of the Group’s broader plans to drive the growth of electromobility, with the aim of establishing 6,000 fast-charging points in Poland and approximately 2,500 in foreign markets over the next decade.
The network of 200 fast chargers will be developed under a contract between ORLEN Deutschland and May & Co. Holding, a company specialising in commercial property management. The contract also provides for potential further expansion of the ORLEN Charge network to additional locations in the future.
“The rapid development of new technologies, particularly in electromobility, represents an exciting growth opportunity for us. As the number of electric vehicles continues to rise, the necessary charging infrastructure must expand accordingly. We have ramped up our investments in fast-charging stations to better serve our customers’ needs. Our objectives for the coming years are clear: we intend to become the leading provider of EV charging services in the region. As part of our strategy, the ORLEN Charge network will be responsible for 33% of the share of energy supplied to electric cars on the EV charging market in Poland, which corresponds to 6,000 charging points. We also plan to affirm our strong position in international markets, increasing the number of fast-charging stations abroad to 2,500,” says Krzysztof Kaczyński, Executive Director for Electromobility ORLEN.
Under the contract with May & Co. Holding, ORLEN Deutschland will install ORLEN Charge chargers in convenient locations for electric vehicle users, including retail parks and popular supermarket chains. This will allow customers to charge their cars while they shop. The project involves the deployment of over 200 high-power charging points, ranging from 150 to 400 kW.
“Partnering with ORLEN Deutschland opens up new opportunities for us as property managers, enabling us to offer our tenants and their customers a broader range of services that will enhance the appeal of our locations. Together, we are committed to promoting electromobility and advancing a sustainable future,” says Jens-Henrik Gerdes, Managing Director of May & Co. Development GmbH.
“Our partnership with May & Co. Holding marks a significant milestone in expanding the ORLEN Charge network in Germany and reinforces our position in the market. With this agreement, we have secured a reliable partner with whom we can continue developing future electromobility projects,” comments Dennis Kulbach, Managing Director of ORLEN Deutschland.
Currently, the ORLEN Charge network in Germany includes 60 charging points. By the end of the year, this number will grow to over 200, and through the partnership with May & Co. Holding, the network is set to expand to more than 460 sites by the end of 2026.
Additionally, in Elmshorn near Hamburg, ORLEN Deutschland is building its first charging hub in Germany, featuring 16 charging points with up to 400 kW of power. This facility, branded as ORLEN Charge, is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2025. ORLEN also intends to roll out charging hubs in Poland, with 13 new locations set to launch by the end of the year.
