UK-based professional services firm Deloitte has expanded its partnership with Basware to enhance digital finance transformation by creating a practice-based Centre of Excellence (COE).

Basware is a Finland-based software company specialising in cloud-based procurement and invoicing solutions.

Deloitte and Basware initially partnered in May last year to transform e-invoicing.

The expansion addresses the increasing demand for digital solutions driven by SAP S/4HANA migrations, global e-invoicing compliance mandates, and the need for cost optimisation through accounts payable (AP) automation.

It will combine Deloitte’s finance and compliance expertise with Basware’s Invoice Lifecycle Management platform to deliver scalable, automated solutions for organisations in EMEA.

The partnership aims to deliver scalable, automated solutions that enhance compliance and reduce costs and operations of organisations in the EMEA region.

Basware CEO Jason Kurtz said: “Enterprise finance leaders can no longer afford to take a ‘wait and see’ approach to e-invoicing compliance and AP transformation. Regulatory deadlines are fast approaching, and the cost of inefficiency is rising.

“With the massive wave of ERP cloud migrations – especially to SAP S/4HANA – businesses need a seamless way to embed AP automation directly into their core financial operations.

“Acting now means mitigating compliance risks and improving cash flow, reducing fraud, and eliminating manual bottlenecks.

“Our expanded alliance with Deloitte brings best-in-class automation and expert guidance to enterprises in EMEA, ensuring they gain a competitive edge while achieving compliance certainty.”

Nations across the EMEA region are implementing stringent e-invoicing and tax compliance regulations, requiring companies to adapt quickly.

Germany will require companies to receive e-invoices by 2025, with large companies mandated by January 2027, and France will implement a phased roll-out in September 2026.

Deloitte and Basware’s Centre of Excellence (COE) will provide enterprises with a seamless, fully automated AP solution, ensuring compliance and unlocking financial benefits.

CoE has successfully implemented Basware’s digital invoicing solution with Deloitte’s expertise, achieving full deployment in seven months.

The expanded partnership will help enterprises achieve up to 89% touchless invoice processing, reduce manual intervention, and optimise working capital.

It will also provide Deloitte-certified consultants trained on Basware’s platform to drive successful financial transformation projects.

With ERP migrations advancing and regulatory requirements tightening, enterprises in EMEA are required to modernise their finance operations.

Deloitte-Basware expanded partnership allows customers to de-risk the ERP migration and provides an effective path to AP automation, compliance, and cost optimisation.

Deloitte France managing partner, technology and performance management head Henri Lhomme said: “As regulatory pressures and digital transformation accelerate, businesses must act now to modernise their finance operations.

“Combining Deloitte’s reach and expertise with Basware’s AP automation capabilities, we empower the office of the CFO to streamline accounts payable, ensure full compliance, and unlock significant cost savings.”
