Indian IT major Wipro revealed that it had been selected by Nokia for a new five-year strategic engagement aimed at driving digital transformation and efficiencies in global business services (GBS).

The new contract is an extension of a partnership between the two firms that was established originally over 20 years ago.

It is said to support the strategy of Nokia to expedite competitiveness and aims to increase margins by digitalising operations, automation, and seizing emerging opportunities.

Nokia global business services vice president Rod Lindsay said: “We have selected Wipro as our long-term partner to support Nokia GBS’ service delivery transformation over the next five years.

“This marks a significant milestone in our journey aimed at delivering tangible benefits to Nokia Business Groups through a unified service desk, seamless service integration, improved transparency and performance of GBS.”

Under the contract, Wipro will be responsible to provide global business services in support of the Finnish company’s renewed operating model. The focus will be on optimisation of processes, touchless processing, and delivering better user and customer experience across the group’s finance, accounting, and order management supply chain operations.

Wipro Nordics senior vice president and managing director Vinay Firake said: “We have a truly strategic partnership with Nokia, built over 20 years, based on our shared values.

“We now have a shared purpose: to drive impactful and quantified business outcomes enabled through technology, automation, and process digitisation. Our goal is to enable Nokia to win in the 5G world and beyond.”
