Accenture announced its acquisition of Blackcomb Consultants, a Guidewire partner in North America, with an aim to help insurance carriers expedite their digital transformation in the cloud.
The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Based in Chicago, Blackcomb Consultants offers technology services to property and casualty (P&C) insurance carriers in assisting them in achieving enhanced operational agility and quicker launch of products and services in the market.
The company provides cloud-hosted services, production support, organisational change services, performance improvement, and policy administration system implementations and upgrades.
Through the acquisition of Blackcomb Consultants, Accenture aims to bolster its ability to provide Guidewire solutions to insurers worldwide and assist them to become cloud-first businesses.
The end-to-end technology platform of Guidewire integrates artificial intelligence, digital and core analytics capabilities across the billing, claims, underwriting, and customer relationship management functions. This helps P&C insurers in reimagining their operations in the cloud, said Accenture.
Accenture North America insurance technology lead John Koepke said: “This acquisition strengthens our ability to help insurance carriers use technologies like artificial intelligence and analytics to improve productivity and provide hyper personalised offerings to their customers.”
Blackcomb Consultants is also claimed to have specialised capabilities in delivering applications and services of Guidewire on Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services.
Its 158 employees will join Accenture’s Industry and Function Platforms Group, focussing on Guidewire project delivery.
